Dave Thomas Junior Drops Newest Single, “Nobody Else”
Following his release of “Still In Love” in January, Dave Thomas Junior dropped his latest single, “Nobody Else.” This dreamy track continues to showcase Thomas’ ability to create music that tugs on the heartstrings with his relatable lyrics and expressive vocals elevated with haunting harmonies.
Listen to “Nobody Else” below:
“Nobody else” is about having that revelation of falling in love with someone despite it being a casual arrangement. It’s that longing to be with this person, as they’ve realized how much they enjoy spending time with each other.
This feeling is explored over an instrumental focused mainly on the acoustic guitar, further emphasizing the rawness of these feelings. The chorus introduces a couple of other instruments, but even then, the acoustic guitar, along with Thomas’ vocals and lyrics, remains the main focus of the song.
Lyrically, “Nobody Else” begins with the morning after spending the night together, as Thomas sings, “Maybe you should stay until the morning/ Maybe you should stay another million years.” It also insinuates a moment of clarity, “And I know that we talked about it/ But here in the low light/ My doubts just disappear.” This realization of wanting to move the relationship to the next level is explored in the chorus as Thomas proclaims, “Nobody else (2x)/ Gets me like you do/ Nobody else (2x)/ Makes me feel forever too soon/ And I can’t unknow/ What I know/ And I know I love you/ Nobody Else (2x)/ I don’t want nobody else but you.” In the second verse, Thomas explains that despite agreeing to a more casual relationship, “But you got me questioning/ Everything I know/ And I know we said no strings attached/ But I think I want to take it back.”
Any fans of bands such as Imaginary Future and The Paperkites will fall in love with Thomas’ newest song due to its amazing harmonies and mesmerizing instrumental.
Dave Thomas Junior grew up with a passion for music, as he started playing his neighbor’s piano as a kid, and with a musical career spanning over a decade, Thomas continues fueling this love. Besides the release “Still In Love” and “Nobody Else,” Thomas’ single “Silence & Little Piece Of Nothing” was featured on Ricky Gervais’ Afterlife 2, while his single “Hue,” was featured in Netflix’s Atypical.
