Comanavago’s ‘Annihilation’ Is A Hard Hitting Track That Delights The Senses

The verb annihilate is a double edged sword of sorts. For starters, it could mean that one has chosen the road of darkness by choosing to eliminate either a person or something. In this scenario, this gusto could either be driven by envy, extreme anger and or revenge. But then there’s also a good side to it wherein the elements that bother and make one suffer are let go. This time around brought up by that overwhelming desire to change their life completely.

That spirit of change is ever present in the queer power duo Comanavago’s latest single entitled “Annihilation”. Released last November 25^th and part of their deluxe album “Heart Failure”, it’s a song that craves for freedom from the chains that afflict them. As a the lyrics would express, “I think I’m giving you up. So now I’m giving you up.
I think I’m giving you up.”. While it does, there’s that unsettling vibe you get that there’s this sense of comfort despite the pain felt specially when the lines “I heard you call my name. You made me feel so safe.Turns out you let off my location to the drones.” are uttered. There’s that smidge of affection felt toward their captor even after all the ordeal that they’ve been through. It’s a haunting reminder that being in a toxic relationship messes up every facet of your being may it be physically or mentally. It’s a wake up call for all of us to be picky with the ones we choose to be intimate with. Once you’re in, it’s hard to get out like an insect caught in a spider’s web (Shwoop).

Even with a quite disturbing tale at its core, “Annihilation” is an energetic track that invites us to dance. It makes us groove to its heart stopping beat, instrumentals and it’s edgy lyricism. It’s a delightful romp the boosts our systems and brings us sky high up to cloud nine in an instant.
