W/U’s ‘Slo’ Is An Oasis For The Weary

Living in the United States has tons perks for sure. It’s a boiling pot of cultures, a hub for great minds and a place filled with tons of opportunities. Despite all that, what it doesn’t offer is the ability to take things slow or at least to control your time. If you’re into living in the fast lane ala “Fast And The Furious” then you’ll have a grand time. But if you’d rather have your own pace to things and feel every moment then you might end up struggling.

This desire to savor every moment and to simply slowdown is reflected in W/U aka Francis Ton’s new song entitled “Slo”. Released last November 26th and a single for his upcoming album entitled “Hyperbolic Vibe Chamber”. “Slo” is W/U’s love letter to time itself and how we should cherish its every tick rather than spamming the fast forward button like a mad man. Sure, approaching life like a bullet train has its benefits like we do here in States, having too much of it eats at you like a termite. Sure you may have tons of cash after, but it comes with a cost. It could be you getting physically and mentally sick, or perhaps a slew of strained relationships with loved ones. Ouch!

Just like W/U’s sentiment, the track itself is built around that concept. It’s minimal use of words coupled with its calming beats and instrumentals allows us audiences to focus on the natural flow of time. The vocals on the other hand are trance like and smooth, as if convincing us to stay this way all throughout its runtime. In a way it’s magic but at the same time it’s a reminder that simplicity is still effective in this day and age.

So if you’re looking for a tune that’ll take you to a beautiful oasis of restfulness, then this one’s for you. Close those eyes, sit back and let your mind drift to the clouds. You’ve already done a lot at break neck speeds, it’s time to pause.
