Charlotte Lawrence Makes Us Forget About Heartbreak in New Song and Video
Rising pop act Charlotte Lawrence has delivered us a hug in the form of a song and video. “Boys Like You” is one of the recent releases from the songstress, including the vulnerable ballad “Bodybag.” The latter has received positive feedback from publications like NYLON.
“A searing take on the end of a relationship that you’re not quite ready to leave.”

“Boys Like You” is a jubilant indie-pop song that includes angsty lyrics about feeling rejected by another girl in favor of pursuing a relationship with a guy.
I can’t help it, I like girls like you
But you like boys and boys like you
I know there’s nothin’ that I can do
‘Cause you like boys and boys like you
Yeah, you like boys and boys like you“Boys Like You”
The music video came out on the same day as the single and it encaptures the bittersweetness of a summer romance gone wrong. We find Lawrence wandering outdoors as she finds the object of her affection passionately making out with someone else. In other scenes, we further see the singer’s musical prowess as she jams out to the song on a guitar.
In regards to the song’s origin, Lawrence explains:
“I wrote ‘Boys Like You’ for anyone who ever wanted someone who didn’t want them back. They might play around with the idea of it, even send some mixed signals, but ultimately, they don’t love you like you love them. We’ve all been there. It hurts, but it doesn’t have to pull you under. I’m dancing through the ache, and I hope you can dance with me. ‘Boys Like You’ is fun and joyful. It’s filled with flirty summer longing… just like me. Hope you love it.”
