CAMILA CABELLO AND VEVO RELEASE LIVE PERFORMANCE SERIES FINALE “LOLA” FT. YOTUEL

On June 1, Camila Cabello and VEVO released an exclusive live performance of the star’s single “Lola,” the fourth and final installment of the collaborative series. “Lola” features Yotuel, Cuban singer and actor, and lead vocalist for the 2003 Latin Grammy Award-winning, Platinum albumin-selling rap group, the Orishas. Other performances in Cabello’s live series with VEVO include “Bam Bam,” “Boys Don’t Cry,” and “No Doubt.”

“Lola” sees Cabello in the middle of an unnamed valley, surrounded by rolling hills. The sun has already set, and the perfect lighting that dusk so often allows encircles Cabello on a circular stage. The female singer is dressed in airy white, as she performs freely and with seeming ease around the platform, surrounded by her band. Off to the side, Yotuel delivers his lines among brush and vegetation that seem to creep into the scene and make it whole. The entire set is lit overhead by a levitating light source, giving the performance a surreal, oasis-like quality.

“Lola,” as well as the other three songs in her VEVO series, appears on Cabello’s latest studio album Familia (2022). In this third album of her career, Cabello embarks on a musical exploration of her family’s history. The Cuban-American popstar explores themes of heritage and oral storytelling, pushing her latin-pop sound even further than in previous solo work. Like her VEVO collaboration, Cabello embraces freedom and ease––two words that came to mind when she herself reflected on the making of Familia

Founded by Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment in 2009, VEVO is now the world’s leading music video network, connecting an ever-growing global audience to high quality music content for the last decade. VEVO’s acclaim has allowed the company to collaborate with top talent, creating specifically tailored videos and  live performances to fit the vision of each artist.

But the experience  working with Cabello on this series was special for VEVO creatives. “Having the ability to build this futuristic world with an artist of Camila’s caliber was such a privilege,” says JP Evangelista, VEVO’s Senior Vice President of Content, Programming & Marketing, “With a series that so heavily relies on teamwork, Camila was a dream collaborator with a clear creative vision. The final product was better than we ever could have imagined, and we’re beyond proud to present this series to her fans.”

Celebrated joy, movement, and familia, “Lola” is the perfect close-out for an extraordinary creative team-up. Check out the video here, and stream other videos from the series on YouTube.
