Calum Scott Releases Emotionally Expressive “Heaven” Alongside Release Date for Sophomore Album
Effortlessly tranquil and enchantingly memorable, “Heaven” is the newest single from multi-platinum-selling singer-songwriter Calum Scott that once again reveals Calum’s gift for finding unexpected ways to express universal emotions. Co-written with Hayley Warner, an Australian singer-songwriter who has also penned songs for artists like Katy Perry and Tori Kelly, and produced by Fraser T. Smith, “Heaven” is the fourth single off of Calum’s highly awaited sophomore album, Bridges, which will arrive on June 17th. Explaining the meaning of “Heaven,” Calum says,
As songwriters, we’re always searching for new ways of saying “I miss you” or “I love you” or “I want you back.” The concept of “Heaven” is the love between two people being so powerful that it is far superior to anything else, any other form of paradise that could be offered. I loved the idea of putting the power into the relationship.
“Heaven” unfolds in a dynamic arrangement of soulful piano work, luminous strings, and elegantly swinging drumbeats. This ballad-like backdrop fits gloriously behind Calum’s masterful vocal performance, threaded with lyrics that offer certain poetic wisdom, to create a breathtaking tribute to living in the moment by fully surrendering to love. Emotion simply tumbles through the passionate performance which regularly alludes to commonly held perceptions of Heaven and how this love compares. The simplicity of the instrumental production complements the rawness of the energy exuded within the single, leaving listeners feeling as if we’re swirling within this atmosphere of powerful and meaningful love.
