brooke Captures the Sensual Highs and Lows of Queer Love In New Track “desirée”

“It’s just something about your love,” brooke sings.

Infatuation, desire, attraction … the indie, alt-pop artist just can’t keep away from someone unattainable. It’s a familiar feeling to want someone you can’t have, to dive straight into bad decisions. To give it your all and then mess everything up.

It’s about youth and lust and everything that is being queer and 21 in New York City.

The latest single “desirée” comes straight from the rising star’s Brooklyn apartment. It’s equal parts intimate and danceable. Sensual and teasing, it captures the allure of being young and riding out all the highs and lows of love. Layered chorus harmonies meet post-punk guitar and magnetic synths for a listen that’s fast-paced and feels like living life in the heart of the big city.

Boston-born and Brooklyn-based, brooke has been releasing music since 2020. A 3-year hiatus solidified her understanding of her identity, style, and sound — making her ready to self-produce, compose, write, and arrange these hits we have on repeat.

brooke said she’s been exploring what it means to be queer in a binary world, bringing in angst, excitement, and creativity alike. That raw vulnerability makes its mark on her music, leading to a highly relatable sound. Not many musicians can tap so well into the defining experiences we go through while also delivering a fresh, alternative sound.

October’s release of “you watch me break” had us hooked, and “desirée” definitely did not disappoint. We’re ready for more. Luckily, we don’t have to wait long: brooke’s debut EP Away Today is coming in early 2025. Get ready for her release by following on Instagram and all major streaming platforms here.
