Briston Maroney Announces New Album Ultrapure And Unveils “Body”

Nashville-based singer Briston Maroney has finally announced his new album, Ultrapure, out September 22! This will be Maroney’s second full-length album, though he’s been independently releasing music since 2015. The new album follows his debut LP Sunflower released in 2021, as well as a series of recent singles including “Oregon” and “Paradise”. The lead single off Ultrapure, “Body”, is out now.

Maroney is best known for his hit song, “Freakin’ Out On The Interstate”, originally released in 2018 as part of his Carnival EP. The song has since accumulated over 176 million streams on Spotify and was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The lead single, “Body”, is an upbeat track about growing up and making the most of every moment. The refrain repeats “someday, my body will just be a body”, reminding us of the impermanence that comes with life. The new single has a nostalgic vibe to it, reminiscent of a coming-of-age indie movie. Maroney perfectly encapsulates the indie-rock sound on the new song.

Ultrapure‘s announcement also came with an interview with Briston Maroney and Zane Lowe, as well as a music video directed by Maroney. The album was written and produced in Nashville and features Maroney playing every instrument featured on the new LP. In a statement for the new album, Maroney discussed the creation of Ultrapure.

“Making this album was a perfect combination of effortlessness and struggle. It was very clear from the start it was going to be something I would never forget. The thesis formed when I wrote the title track, ‘Ultrapure’, which was the second song I wrote for the album, after ‘Body’.”

The album was announced alongside the news of the second annual Paradise Festival returning to the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville in October. The festival is presented by Maroney himself, picking peers to perform alongside him and donating a portion of the proceeds to Nashville nonprofit organizations. This year, Maroney will be joined by a collection of artists including Samia, Hovvdy, Olivia Barton, Charlie Burg, and more! Get tickets to Paradise Festival here.

Briston Maroney will be heading out for a headline UK/EU tour in October and November after Ultrapure is released, with dates in London, Paris, and Amsterdam. Maroney will also be supporting Noah Kahan at Red Rocks in July. You can find out more information about Maroney’s tour on his website.

Make sure to keep an eye out for Ultrapure by Briston Maroney, out September 22nd!
