Ben Wagner is an award-winning singer/songwriter currently based in Nashville, TN, and originally from New Berlin, WI. He weaves flavors of indie, pop, folk, and country into his heartfelt brand of songwriting. His music is marked by his smooth, earthy vocals and light, clever wordplay. His unique blend of music has helped him achieve a number of accolades, including first place in the Great American Song Contest. He released his debut album, Midwestern Comfort, in 2018 and though his plans to continue touring on the road were halted in 2020, he took the opportunity to begin writing new music every day. He will be releasing a single every month in 2021 on Spotify along with his Inner State EP.

“Still Don’t Know” was born out of honest conversation between three very different songwriters going through very similar heartache. The song combines elements of country, dreamy pop, and folk. It was written in Milwaukee by Ben, Steve Pitzl, and Sam Hagenick. Ben recorded the song in Nashville with producer Noah Needleman.

The song opens with a dazzling drum and guitar bassline. The lyrics are sung with a questioning tone and even as Ben reflects on all of the moments that undid the relationship, there is still a vivid love behind the heartbreak. Beneath the shimmering instrumental and radiant vocals, which carry a slight country twang, there is still an inescapable sadness. After all, the love doesn’t always just stop just because a relationship has ended, and this song explores those lingering feelings.
