Barclay Crenshaw, the talented artist behind the Claude VonStroke persona and the founder of Dirtybird Records, has unveiled the second single off his upcoming album Open Channel. Titled “Stay Together,” the track features TeeZandos and explores Crenshaw’s versatility when it comes to production and sound design and shows a new side of the veteran artist. TeeZandos’s vocals course throughout the track, uniting the illustrious beats and sounds that bloomed forth from Crenshaw’s mind.
Speaking on “Stay Together” Barclay Crenshaw described the track and his vision for his upcoming album, saying,
“People might be expecting a certain type of record from me, but this track is like a heads-up that they’re in for something very diverse. It’s not just a collection of hard bass music – it’s a signal that the album will bring a wide array of sounds.”
Preceded by “Big In The Game” featuring Snowy and Manga Saint Hilare, “Stay Together” paints the idea of the sonic picture that Barclay Crenshaw will be creating with his album Open Channel. The album, which is scheduled to be released March eighth via Easier Said, represents a new era for the artist. Following his transition from Claude VonStroke’s signature house sound, Crenshaw has shifted his focus to the realms of bass music, electronica, and more by working solely on the Barclay Crenshaw project. The album will be accompanied by Crenshaw’s “Open Channel” tour, which will begin at the iconic Webster Hall in New York City, New York the same day as the album’s release and take the artist across the country at multiple venues and festivals. With stops at Concord Music Hall, The Concourse Project and LA’s Mayan Theatre as well as festival appearances at Electric Forest, SOL Fest and more, Crenshaw is whole-heartedly embracing the new direction of his music career. For the album itself, Crenshaw embarked on an 80 day transformative process where he redefined his artistic identity through daily practices of beat making, cold showers and meditation. The result is an extraordinary album that provides a transcendental bass music experience that shows that Barclay Crenshaw is here to stay.
