A Look into AVOID’s “Can’t Take This Away” from their New Album, Cult Mentality
AVOID is a dynamic range of rock and metal, hailing from the famed Emerald City. Since their debut in 2017, they’ve exploded in the local scene as they rapidly made a name for themselves in their electric live performances and experimental approach to the genre.
Further changing the scene since we chatted with them in the summer, AVOID has launched their latest album, Cult Mentality, with thus far a raging success throughout the Pacific Northwest and a successful string of touring throughout the United States. Having already secured two new AVOID tracks – “Song For James” and “HEAT” – in video game NASCAR Heat 5, it’s a kickstart to a creative campaign incorporating impressive partnerships that at once pays homage to the legacy rock acts of the Pacific Northwest and paves the way for AVOID to take their place in the new wave of great heavy young acts.
We choose to focus on “Can’t Take This Away” from the band’s latest album, mainly because of its range of texture and fun range blending all we know about genre. Highlighting synths throughout each verse, a dance build, a saxophone solo, and heavy metal drums, this single refuses to take itself too seriously all while channeling the future of rock and music within their veins.
