ARKELLS RELEASE NEW SINGLE “PAST LIFE” WITH MUSIC VIDEO FT. COLD WAR KIDS
Just last week, Canadian rock band Arkells released their new hit single “Past Life” featuring longtime idol Cold War Kids. “Past Life” is Arkells’ second single of 2022, and comes ahead of the band’s highly anticipated album Blink Twice slated to release later this year. Blink Twice is the companion album to Arkells’ 2021 Blink Once, the disconographic precursor that scored the seven-time Juno award-winning band another nomination this year.
The 5-piece Canadian rock ensemble kicked off the Juno Awards last Sunday with a performance of their songs “Reckoning” and “You Can Get It.” You can check out their performance on CBC Music here. “Reckoning” was Arkells’ first single release of 2022, followed now by “Past Life” which was released via Virgin Records alongside a music video featuring Nathan Willet of Cold War Kids and a hilarious cameo from SNL alum and MacGruber star Will Forte.
Arkells are coming off of two major headlining live events in 2021, with three history-making nights at Toronto’s iconic Budweiser stage and the 108th Grey Cup Halftime show in their hometown of Hamilton, Ontario. Their 6th studio album Blink Once brought a fifth #1 hit with “You Can Get It” featuring K. Flay. Now, their second single release of 2022 “Past Life” is gaining popularity with over 40 million streams on YouTube. “Past Life” is a catchy, throw-it-on-with-the-windows-down summertime vibe that should be playing in house parties across Canada and the U.S. in no time.
“Last fall we were in LA working on music and had this driving 80’s song about being present in the moment, and liberating yourself from the past,” frontman Max Kerman explains. “We wrote the first verse and left the second one open, hoping that Nathan from Cold War Kids might be drawn to the collaboration. CWK were one of our early influences when we started our band, and we’ve been lucky enough to share the stage with them over the years, and honored to record this tune with them.”

Arkells have re-announced their summer hometown extravaganza, The Rally, live at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, with updated support from Mt. Joy, K.Flay and Haviah Mighty. Due to overwhelming demand, the event will have an increased capacity, with a new block of tickets available and on-sale now. With over 25,000 tix sold, this will be the biggest show to ever hit Hamilton. You can buy newly released tickets here, and find more information and ticket sales for the 2022 Blink Once tour here
