ANNA CLENDENING TRADES HER EX’S FOR “GIRLS LIKE YOU”
Love is a very tricky beast. Sometimes it appears as a cuddly fluffy stuff toy and at times an indominous rex from the Jurassic Park Series ready snap your heart out. But alas, despite it being unpredictable like the weather it’s one that has ruled the world since time in memorial. In fact, we could attribute its being finicky as to the reason why it’s still as present as it is nowadays. Not only that but it has that addictive quality to it, that we just can’t get enough of no matter how painful it could get. So much so that it continuously captures hearts, minds, and souls of everyone including you of all people. To say that you haven’t been a subject to love is complete blasphemy or maybe you’re just in a stage of denial.
At the end of the day, no matter what your opinion on love is. It remains a pillar of our society and everything that breathes despite its reputation of being unstable. It’s that one friend we adore, despite their imperfections. The same can be said with Anna Clendening’s new song entitled “Girls Like You” which was unveiled last June 10th via Atlantic Records. Made available in all platforms worldwide, it speaks about finding love and realizing that to be good at it you first need to be comfortable in your skin. Living up to that saying that in order to give love freely, you need to love yourself first above all. It’s quite a tall order, but that’s the rules of the game that is if you want to “win”.
As far as the track goes, Anna Clendening’s “Girls Like You” has that ear worm quality to it befitting of being a spiritual successor to the RIAA certified Gold Single “Boys Like You”. While that may be the case, don’t dare underestimate it because it’s more than just a hymn about L-O-V-E and liking another person. Rather this is her own progress report, love letter and coming out anthem all at the same time. Yes, you heard that right, it’s all that and more! Making it a landmark piece in her colorful history as an artist and individual. This is Anna coming forward and stepping out of the shadows announcing that she’s loud and proud of who she is. No more hiding behind a mask this time.
Accompanying this already beautiful song is an MV that depicts Anna going on a date with the object of her affection at least in this video. Here they’re just living the simple life, enjoying the company each other in the comfort of nature. As adorable as this seems (cause it is), it’s also a statement saying that love is beyond gender, it’s something that happens organically. As it is with Mother Nature, things are slowly built over time. Apart from that, it also reminds us that while splurging on dates are a thing. The most vital part is that you’re with your better half, doing things that you enjoy the most. Whether that could be spending time under the sun, going on a movie marathon, or just lazing around on bed. They are all great ways to flourish your connection with your lover.
