Anarbor Channels 70s Grindhouse Cinema With “Letter in a Suitcase”

Conceived in a sweaty Phoenix garage in 2003, Anarbor was the brainchild of lead vocalist Slade Echeverri and his fellow former band mates. Briefly known as Troop 101, Anarbor began garnering attention through playing local shows in the Phoenix metropolitan area -all while still attending high school. In 2008, the band was signed to Hopeless Records -marking the start of their professional career. From then on, Anabor continued to evolve. They began working in and out of television and film -even collaborating with Cartoon Network to create the theme song for the 2009 movie Scooby Doo! The Mystery Begins.

The band’s musical versatility has amassed an international following -leading to tours throughout the UK, Canada, Japan, and Australia. Now with two new singles out so far in 2022, Anarbor has continued to prove that they aren’t confined to one specific sound. Their first single of 2022, “Letters in a Suitcase”, was released on April 22nd. The song, both retro and edgy, is yet another example of the band’s ability to create well-crafted experimental music. “Letters in a Suitcase” is high-energy, with instrumentals that work perfectly alongside the vocals.

“Letter in a Suitcase” is perfectly paired with an homage to the grindhouse films of the early to mid 1970s. With Kill Bill (2003) being a major reference for the video, “Letter in a Suitcase” provides you with all the cheesy effects, car chases, and gun shoot outs that made grindhouse so great. What truly made the video was director Bryan Heiden’s commitment to authenticity. Having been completely shot on film, Heiden handled everything from directing and shooting, to treating and editing the video. Complete with light leaks and title cards, Anarbor couldn’t look cooler as the stars of their very own 70s action movie.

You can check out Anarbor and their upcoming projects on streaming platforms such as YouTube and Spotify.
