Alan Palomo’s Music Video is a Trip!
Grab onto your seatbelts and strap in as we are taken to the beaches of Ibiza with the release of Alan Paloma and Mac DeMarco’s music video for “Nudista Mundial ’89.” Palomo is the genius behind the acclaimed indie-pop project Neon Indian. The single marks as his first release under his own name.
As a way to enter his new musical era, Palomo enlisted fellow indie musician Mac DeMarco to create this infectious and funky, ’80s-influenced track. The collaboration came as a result of Palomo needing equipment for his song at DeMarco’s studio:
“My keyboard player told me Mac had one [piano] at his studio so I hit him up. And on one breezy day in May, we sang a duet about two guys going to a nude beach together in Ibiza.”

The funky instrumentals and the escapism lyrics create an audible time machine as the listener is transported into the days of Super Mario, teased-up hair, and brash neon patterns.
The video-game-inspired music video begins with Palomo and DeMarco arriving in Ibiza. As they enter a taxi, a flyer that announces a nude beach appears onto their horizon, prompting our musicians to embark on a quest to find it. However, their tale does not come without struggle as they encounter interesting characters, such as a mushroom-bomb comedian, a drug lord and his panther, and a modeling contest that goes very wrong. Things take an interesting turn when their boat is driven by legendary actor Ernest Borgnine and land at their destination, but is it the one they had in mind?
Despite the music video being located in Ibiza, Palomo will not be touring there. However, he will be in three US cities below in the coming month.
