With an Americana sound that brims with resilience, Abby Posner’s new single “World Is Yours” sends an uplifting message of hope to the LGBTQ+ community. With the Schneider-Rondan Organization, The L.A.-based queer artist pledged a financial contribution and all digital proceeds from “World Is Yours” to The Trevor Project — the leading nonprofit dedicated to suicide prevention for LGBTQ+ youth.
When I first heard the song “World Is Yours,” I was immediately drawn to it, and I wanted to produce/record my own version of it. As a queer songwriter, I believe the world needs more LGBTQ songs that encourage young people to be themselves and lean into their authenticity and strength.

The song’s continual strumming and upbeat vocals reassure listeners that feeling free is possible. There is a large community that will provide a positive, accepting environment for queer people. This anthem, written by Posner and Mitch Schneider, reminds those who may be struggling that they are just as worthy and capable of a life worth living as everyone else, regardless of hardships — they just have to “look out for that rainbow now.”
I know you wanna go down, down a different road
Where no one will reject you
For loving who you choose
You got wings to leave this town
And sing your song out loud~ World Is Yours
“World Is Yours” was released under Blackbird Records alongside a lyric video created by Jessamine Sison. She said she incorporated the song’s Americana and country genres in the video’s depictions of small towns and vast horizons. She also shared that the last building façade in the first part of the video is the historic Stonewall Inn bar, where the 1969 riots occurred that helped spur the gay rights movement.
The animated video starts off entirely in grayscale before expanding to include elements of rainbows, culminating in a massive field of blooming, brightly colored flowers, the epitome of hope and optimism amid darkness.
I also wanted to honor the important message in the lyrics to help spread that message to a wider audience. I felt the imagery had to be relevant, timely, and heartfelt.

Many LGBTQ young people turn to music as a source of comfort, joy, and support—and it is wonderful that young people all over will be able to hear a powerful song of acceptance and affirmation in “World Is Yours.” We are incredibly excited to partner with Abby and her team to help spread the word of this anthem to those who could benefit from it.

Posner said she has started training to become a Trevor Counselor, directly working with The Trevor Project to support queer youth — which is “one of the most eye-opening and rewarding experiences.”
The singer-songwriter has been making her own music since just 10 years old, recording vocals and all the instruments (piano, guitar, bass, and drums). Music was her lifeline, they said, and now they use it to spread that support to others.
Music has always helped me cope with the difficulties of life. I’m queer and I came out at a very young age. Music was the glue that held me together through all of that. It helped me process my feelings about being different.
