After closing out another epic Coachella Music & Arts Festival, attendees were left with more than banger sets and Instagram-worthy art installations. Amongst the back-to-back performances and experiences, Global Inheritance stood out for its commitment to environmental activism and social change.

For the past twenty years, the non-profit Global Inheritance has been reshaping activist practices by harnessing the power of imagination to cultivate creative takes on meaningful change. Throughout the festival grounds, Global Inheritance’s initiatives were on full display, offering festival-goers unique opportunities to engage with pressing issues facing our planet.

One standout feature was the POSTed Studio, where festival attendees could channel their creativity into concept art for posters advocating solutions to environmental challenges. These rough concepts were then refined by professional artists, amplifying the individual’s voice and allowing their message to reach a global audience.

The TRASHed – Art of Recycling exhibit showcased talented artists’ ability to transform ordinary recycling bins into inspiring works of art, emphasizing the importance of recycling. With this year marking the collection’s 20th edition, attendees were encouraged to share their favorite installations on social media with the hashtag #GlobalInheritance.

The Energy Playground was a hub of activity, providing attendees with the opportunity to charge their phones through human-powered seesaws while serving as an educational platform to learn about energy conservation. This “edutainment” model of education and entertainment is central to Global Inheritance’s practices.

Global Inheritance also offered a unique opportunity to engage with NASA scientists during the “Stargazing at Coachella” experience. As part of the POSTed Studio Speaker Series, experts shared their knowledge about outer space, exoplanets, and the future of space exploration, culminating in a mesmerizing stargazing session atop a hill in the camping hub.

Carpoolchella urged festival-goers to team up with friends, not just to cut down on carbon emissions, but also for the opportunity to snag exclusive lifetime VIP passes. This endeavor epitomized Global Inheritance’s commitment to advocating eco-conscious behaviors while nurturing a spirit of camaraderie among those attending the festival.

Global Inheritance’s work at Coachella served as a reminder of the power of creativity and activism in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. By pushing for informative events and tangible change, they work towards a better future.
