Fall Out Boy is just getting started with their latest run of So Much for (Tour)dust. Mostly sold out, there are only a few more opportunities for fans to get their tickets to see what may be their best run yet!

The elder emo crowd packed the seats of Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center. Just before the show started, fans sang along to every word to the pre-show tracks. The final track was one of their own, an updated rendition of “We Didn’t Start the Fire” with up-to-date pop culture references.

An inspirational message played as the lights dimmed. A red curtain created the first backdrop, a simple but effective option as each band member stood out as they entered the stage, dressed in t-shirts and jeans. And we must mention the pyrotechnics, of course… The production was surely a step up from the last performance we saw from them in 2021.

Throughout the show, a variety of fire, fireworks, and backdrops set the scene as Fall Out Boy played all of their hits, old and new. We heard “The Phoenix” as the pyro hit its peak and the bassist lit a flamethrower throughout his performance from his instrument. Another early hit we heard was “Uma Thurman,” as a mid-western backdrop was revealed. A person dressed in a bunny suit paraded around the stage, throwing carrots into the crowd.

The fire was hot but the band was hotter than ever. The set changed again for “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race,” revealing a floating dog head with glowing eyes. Throughout the next couple of songs, the display sang along with the band. Before playing songs from the new album, Fall Out Boy’s bassist took a moment to talk with the crowd about their newest album.

It’s actually insane to be playing these songs in a sold out crowd in Sacramento on a Sunday night.

When you’re locked away for 1.5 years, you gotta do something. The record that came from this is a little weird… but you gotta make stuff to make stuff, to feel alive in this world…

They worked very hard for years and it’s so cool to see the fruits of their labor at a show like this.

The crowd lit their flashlights in support of “So Much (For) Stardust. The front row headbanged as the band dusted off a few more older hits. What made the night most special for us was the fact that there was no encore. Fall Out Boy didn’t leave the stage, which is quite unusual with today’s traditions in live music. Instead, they played through the end of the set and ended the night with “Light It Up,” “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs,” and “Century.”
