More than a decade after their multi-platinum remix of “I Follow Rivers” became a global success, Belgian producer The Magician and Lykke Li reunite once again. Their latest collaboration kicks off a weekly summer remix series built around selected tracks from Lykke Li’s “The Afterparty.”
The first release is The Magician’s remix of “Lucky Again.” Originally one of the album’s more intimate moments, the track now leans into a more dance-driven energy. The Belgian producer surrounds the singer’s airy vocals with warm piano chords, bright synths, and melodic house rhythms, while preserving the song’s emotional core, making it feel just as fitting for late-night listening as it is for the dancefloor.
This release arrives at a particularly active moment for both artists. Lykke Li is currently in the middle of a global festival tour, including a performance at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. Her music is also seeing renewed cultural attention, following a high-profile interpolation by Drake that recently earned her a first career number-one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 as a songwriter.
For The Magician, the remix adds to a strong run of club-focused projects. Following the success of his cinematic collaborative album “Voyage,” he has new music on the way in collaboration with Nico De Andrea and Moscoman, among other artists. He also continues to headline major stages across Europe and North America.
More than a decade after their breakthrough collaboration, this remix shows that their musical connection still feels as natural as ever.
