They deliver a new energy, preserving historic musical moments such as “We Didn’t Start the Fire” that never go out of style.
“I thought about this song a lot when I was younger. All these important people and events – some that disappeared into the sands of time – others that changed the world forever. So much has happened in the span of the last 34 years – we felt like a little system update might be fun. Hope you like our take on it…”
Fall Out Boy
Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire” is known for a playful pace and intonation over striking instrumentals. The charisma and personality in his voice is crucial In Fall Out Boy’s version, it is clear that they are throwing themselves into the role. They take it fast-paced with a punk twist, driven by the smashing keys. Like Joel, the band wrote loudly political lyrics, referencing culture from the 2020s instead of the 1980s. Fall Out Boy stayed true to the provocative nature of the song, meeting the times with the stark influence of their musical style.
