In the vast ocean of pop rap, KJ!’s “Good Day” emerges as a buoyant and uplifting anthem that transcends the genre’s typical themes. Released this year, this infectious track has become a symbol of positivity and resilience in the face of life’s challenges. Fun and bubbly upbeat instrumentls, met with aggressively postive lyrics, make for a great track for anyone having a good day and not letting any elements get in the way of that. The lyrics of “Good Day” revolve around the idea of embracing the positive aspects of life, even in the midst of difficulties and others making it difficult. KJ! creates a narrative to enjoy the good days, your good days and encourages listeners to not let others or the times bring you down. The chorus, with its simple yet postitive message, becomes a mantra for those seeking a laugh among the downers: “F*ck you, I don’t care, Your negativity is getting us nowhere.”

“This song is my first release after a two month hiatus induced by vocal injury. It’s good vibes are the perfect tonic to a really difficult period right at the beginning of my music career.”

“Good Day was written in the middle of the pandemic and in the middle of what I felt was a writing slump. I had had difficulty managing my own ADHD throughout the pandemic, between; being basically constantly at home, being unable to exercise, dealing with the stress of a once in a lifetime pandemic on myself, my relationships and my career, and having a horribly strange sleep schedule (I’d be up practicing at studios from 10:30/11 PM-3/4 AM after they closed so I could practice without being around people and without being heard) everything felt like it was slanting against my ability to deal with my own mental illness. The backdrop to this as well was then of the worst bouts of burnout I’ve ever experienced, making everything I did writing-wise really difficult. This song was something different then, both in its positivity and the fact that it’s more pure pop than anything else I had made at the time, but also because it was fairly simple and easy, something I just had to trust and something that was carried by melodies, positivity and vibes rather than intricate lyricism or complexity. It still stands out as uniquely itself within my catalogue but there’s a lot I love about it, and it’s incredibly fun to listen to I think.”
