The Future of Alt Pop, B.Miles, releases evocative new single, “Different Pages”

For those looking for a retro, indie number that perfectly encapsulates a midnight drive in summer winds, look no further. Out July 13, B.Miles has just released her latest single, “Different Pages,” during the height of summer exploration and evocation. This single not only features muted vocals, dreamy synths, and an alt pop take on lingering lyricism, “Different Pages will surely feature as a repeat number during late-night adventures out on the city.

According to the artist, “Different Pages” was inspired by either a favorite playlist on her first iPod or a mixtape on her last Walkman. B.Miles takes musical cues from artists like Natalie Imbruglia, Dolores O’Riordan and Kylie Minogue as she abandons someone else’s idea of success in favor of finding it on her own terms. “Different Pages” emerges from those empowering breakup anthems of the 90s – rooted in Miles ending a relationship she’d been in for her entire 20s – with a signature sound once described as “slow and sexy with just the right amount of drama” (Interview Magazine). But deeper than that, it centers on having the courage to ask yourself if you’re truly happy and – more importantly – to do something about it if you’re not.

B.Miles is an artist who’s been praised as “a bridge to pop music’s future” (Ones To Watch) and for “giving us the language when our emotions are hard to explain” (Refinery29). On July 13, she’ll announce her sophomore album (and first in three years) ‘Different Pages’ (out September 30) and share the album’s title track – which finds her unchecking the boxes she once felt like she needed to check (like a long-term relationship, a ‘safe’ job, a house in the suburbs) while confronting the outdated societal expectations placed on women in their 20s and 30s.
