Released August 5th via PreAmp, this is an upbeat musical warning from a scorned lover. Based on a true story, it’s as scorching as the heat waves we experience, coupled with an overflowing of feelings from a wound we can’t see. A voice deep down from a heart broken into pieces, like porcelain freshly smashed by a hammer, ouch! We see Maisie at her most vulnerable and it’s painfully beautiful to experience.
But as much as it is a plot of revenge for a hurtful ex it also serves as an anthem of change and strength amid a crisis. Showing us that through a simple act, in this instance a transition from brunette to blonde is more than enough to ignite that desire to fight back. Not because thoughts of rebellion have taken over, rather defending our right to happiness at all costs. Whether there’s a rescuer in sight or none at all, we should pick up the mantle of being the hero ourselves. Wounded and all, standing up is the only option because that would lead to freedom sooner or later. Free to live a life filled with joy, bliss, and new perspective on who we are.
