Minnesota singer/songwriter Ben Howe is a fresh face on the music scene. Self-proclaimed as making music in his basement, he takes pride in being able to share his music with listeners outside of his cold home state. With three singles under his belt, he is establishing his sound and bringing us along for the journey.
“Moving On” was his first release of 2021 and has recently been followed up by another release, “Never Known a Better Friend.”
“Moving On” is a song that is about the process of moving on from a past relationship. Luminous acoustic guitar lines the backdrop, creating a sound that radiates rich melodies. Ben adds to the soothing soundscape with his golden-toned vocals as he recollects the journey of the relationship from the first moments to the end. Harmonizing vocals add another layer of dulcet tones, even as the lyrics explore the bittersweet feelings that come at the end of a relationship – happiness that they’re happy, but sadness that you’re not included in their current life. The emotions are reflected in the vocals and production. There’s the slightest sorrow that can be felt amongst the otherwise light track. It tugs are your heartstrings, while also managing to be heartwarming because there is still so much love to be felt.
