Canvasback Music artist Briston Maroney today released a live version of “Freakin’ Out On the Interstate”. The performance was directed by Joey Brodnax and features psychedelic accompaniment from Maroney’s full band.

Released via Maroney’s Carnival EP (2018), “Freakin’ Out On the Interstate” has recently gained serious traction, garnering nearly a million streams a week and bringing the Knoxville-native’s catalog up over 45 million global streams – all prior to the release of a debut album.

Earlier this month, Maroney released an acoustic performance of the track – also directed by Brodnax + recorded at Nashville studio Alex the Great – which has gone on to amass nearly a million views in just a few short weeks. The song was also highlighted with a performance last year for NPR’s World Café – watch here – recorded live at WXPN Studios in Philadelphia.

Last year, Maroney was named to various critics’ year-end “Best Of” lists – including PAPERVulture, and Consequence of Sound. Off the back of his Indiana EP (2019), he rose from playing house shows to sold-out clubs in the US, as well as an international headline tour and slots at marquee festivals including Austin City Limits Pitchfork Paris.

Currently, Maroney is hard at work on his forthcoming full-length debut album.
