Well fellow music lovers, In roughly two and a half weeks time one of the coolest music festivals will be taking place along the shores of the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels TX. If you haven’t had the chance to pick up your tickets yet, I suggest you do it IMMEDIATELY because this one is close to selling out. I am not sure I can properly put my level of excitement into words for what should be one of the most unique musical experiences you will have all year. To help get you ready for the River Revival Music Festival I have selected 5 artists that you MUST see at this year’s festival.

JD McPherson

JD McPherson has been one of my favorite musicians since the debut of his first album Signs & Signifiers in 2011. JD has a sound that feels as if he was kidnapped by time travelers in 1957 while on Tour with Buddy Holly. Once I realized he would be headlining a night at River Revival, I knew I absolutely had to be there. He pretty much embodies old school Rock and Roll and Rockabilly so make sure to pack your dancing shoes, it’s gonna be a wild night.

Folk Family Revival

Folk Family Revival just released a wonderful new album entitled Electric Darlin’ and I haven’t stopped listening since it’s release. Known for their electrifying performances, these Houston Natives have crafted an album that seems to come close to capturing what it’s like to experience them live. I have spent the better part of the last couple weeks reading about how great they are, so needless to say I will be front and center when these guys take the stage and you should be too.

Golden Dawn Arkestra

Deep psychedelic grooves and sprawling cinematic elements are what GDA is all about. Less of a band and more of a musical experience this TX-based act will surely set the bar for the wildest set at River Revival. Taking a page out of the P-Funk handbook, wild costumes and killer music are just a few of the many reasons to you don’t want to miss out on Golden Dawn Arkestra.

Black Cassidy

River Revival isn’t just about music, it’s also home to some truly talented visual artists as well. One of my personal favorites is Houston’s own Black Cassidy. Black specializes in large colorful surrealistic murals and his work can be found adorned on buildings throughout Texas. I am excited to see what he has in store for this year’s Festival.

Dem Damn Dames

Dem Damn Dames, Houston’s Premier Burlesque Troupe can sing, dance, perform aerial acrobatics and do pretty much everything in between. This beautiful group of ladies are the cherry on the top of an already artistically stacked lineup at this year’s River Revival Festival.
