Great Hits & Great Wins: 2023 Grammy Highlights
On Sunday, Feb. 5, the 65th annual Grammy’s Award televised on CBS. Avid music enthusiasts and fans were able to see their favorite artist win their well deserved awards and see amazing performances. Meanwhile, everyone got to see Beyonce break the record for most wins by any artist in Grammy history.
Album of the Year:
Starting off strong, Harry Styles won Album of the Year for his third studio album, Harry’s House released May 2022. With its lead single, “As It Was,” hitting almost two million streams on Spotify, the success of the album was promising. Within its first week, Harry’s House hit No.1 on Billboard 200.

Song of the Year:
Shocking to most, rock & blues artistBonnie Raitt won Song of the Year with her track, “Just Like That”, from her album Just Like That released in April 2022. Despite being against some of the most salient artists such as Lizzo, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift, Raitt provided a meaningful track and delivered a heartfelt speech.
Record of the Year:
Lizzo was nominated for six awards for the award show and won the Record of the Year for her hit single, “About Damn Time” which reached over half a million streams on Spotify. 2022 proved to be an extremely successful year for Lizzo’s musical career however, she remained humble and appreciative in her phenomenal speech.
New Artist of the Year:
New Artist of the Year was awarded to Samara Joy, a 23-year-old jazz singing sensation. Joy released her debut album, Samara Joy, in 2021 and in 2022 she released her second album, Linger Awhile. While originally from the Bronx, New York, the whole nation now knows her name and impact on jazz music.
