LISTEN NOW HERE TO THE SONG WHICH MADE ITS DEBUT AT COACHELLA
For his closing slot at Coachella on April 12, American producer/DJ KAYZO was joined by special guests Tommy Lee, Yungblud, Grandson, Frank Zummo (Sum 41) and All Time Low‘s Alex Gaskarth. It was here for the first time, witnessed by tens of thousands of fans in Coachella’s massive Sahara tent, KAYZO and Gaskarth performed their new fiery new single “Up In Flames.” The track and its accompanying video is out now (April 24) on Ultra Music.
“The song itself and the production behind it I think has become my best example to date of the blurred line of rock and electronic music that I am continuously working to create,” told KAYZO to Alternative Press, who premiered the video that was directed by Yhellow, today. ‘Up In Flames’ is important because it embodies the high and low of love and friendship. We all have good times with those we love and the memories we keep can make letting go hard whether it’s a friend or a loved one, but at the end of the day all good things must come to an end, it’s about the journey and what is made between the start and finish line.”
“Working with Alex was seamless. We ended up getting together a while back and in one session we wrote and tracked the lyrics,” he adds. “Having him so dialed in and hands on with the creative process was really exciting too. A month ago we thought the song was in a good place to call it complete, but Alex hit me up and wanted to re-record because he knew he could do a better pass of it. He even had ideas on how to refresh the arrangement musically. He was an important and key piece to this song coming together the way it did.”
Alex Gaskarth, vocalist and guitarist of the multi-platinum rock band All Time Low, has topped the charts in both the U.S. and U.K. In addition to All Time Low, Alex is one half of the supergroup Simple Creatures which features Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 and a renowned songwriter, working in the studio with acclaimed artists such as 5 Seconds of Summer, State Champs and more.
“Up In Flames” follows previous KAYZO collaborations with Underoath (“Wasted Space”), Blessthefall (“Before The Storm”) and “Alone” with New England-based post-hardcore band Our Last Night. Look for a new album from KAYZO to be released very soon.
Houston-born, Los Angeles-based producer/DJ KAYZO, née Hayden Capuozzo, is one of the fastest-rising electronic artists of this decade. His versatile sound-high-energy melodies bestrewn with pummeling beats-defies genres and challenges sonic boundaries: in one single song, he‘ll traverse heavy metal via shredding guitar solos, dubstep-heavy bass, hardstyle-fueled aggression, and hypnotizing psytrance loops. His flexibility as a producer has earned him official releases with all the top dogs in electronic music and has garnered him collaborations with and remix duties for electronic giants like DJ Snake, Steve Aoki, and SLANDER, among many others. Taking the electronic-rock hybrid to new ground, he remixed the 2000 alt-metal smash hit “Last Resort” from nu metal icons Papa Roach. Dubbed a “real smasher” by Billboard, the remix has amassed more than 13 million Spotify streams. Elsewhere, the dubstep monster “Wake Up,” his collaboration with RIOT, counts more than 20 million streams on Spotify, with an additional 3 million on SoundCloud. His bass-fluid, shape-shifting sound and bold take on production has come to define KAYZO‘s electrifying style and creatively experimental direction, as best captured on OVERLOAD, his debut artist album. Released January 2018 on his own Welcome Records imprint, distributed by Ultra Music, and counting more than 7 million streams on Spotify alone, OVERLOAD encapsulates the new KAYZO sound: a stimulating, cross-genre blend of rock theatrics and electronic futurism. A taste-maker in his own right, KAYZO founded his own artist-run imprint, Doghouse Recordings, in 2016, which he later relaunched as Welcome Records in 2017. He also hosts his biweekly Doghouse Radio show, which airs every other Friday at 4pm PT/7pm ET on SiriusXM Channel 730 as part of Insomniac Radio. Recognized as one of Billboard Dance‘s 100 Artists of 2019, KAYZO is today a bona fide global act.
