On April 15, 2024, YOSHIKI, the renowned Japanese musician and philanthropist, once again leaned into his generous nature by donating 10 million yen to aid victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Taiwan on April 3. The donation was facilitated through his non-profit organization, YOSHIKI FOUNDATION AMERICA, and directed to the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China.

This act of kindness marks another chapter in YOSHIKI’s extensive philanthropic journey. Earlier this year, in January, he contributed a similar amount to support victims of earthquakes in Japan. Additionally, he auctioned off his cherished crystal piano, with the winning bid of 40 million yen directed to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

YOSHIKI humanitarian efforts aren’t confined solely to Asia. Over the years, he has provided substantial aid to various international emergencies, including supporting Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas in 2017 and combating wildfires in the Amazon rainforest in 2019.

The Great East Japan earthquake in 2011 spurred YOSHIKI to escalate his initiatives. He contributed substantial funds and orchestrated benefit concerts to facilitate the recovery process. His dedication persisted through subsequent calamities, such as the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake and the 2018 Hokkaido Iburi East earthquake.

Beyond natural disasters, YOSHIKI’s philanthropy encompasses mental health advocacy within the music industry. In 2021, he established an annual grant for MusiCares to assist music creators and industry professionals facing mental health challenges. His previous donation to MusiCares during the Coronavirus pandemic underscores his commitment to supporting fellow musicians in times of need.

His outstanding charitable contributions have garnered him global acclaim. Forbes honored him as one of the “Asia’s Top 30 Heroes of Philanthropy” in 2019. Additionally, in 2021, the Japanese Government awarded him a Medal of Honor in recognition of his backing for the National Center for Global Health and Medicine and his continuous charitable endeavors.

YOSHIKI’s philanthropy efforts and funds can be explored further and donated to on his website.
