Released on October 27, 2023, the emo-tinged modern rock band Telling Secrets, formed by Vik Kovacs, released their newest single “Fall Behind.” The inspiration for the track comes from Kovacs’ journeys and travels from “parts of the UK in addition to Los Angeles,” as stated in an article from Obscure Sound.
The song releases a “transient-feeling journey that lends to his material’s themes, drawn from the frustrations of moving halfway across the world,” as an article from Obscure Sound states. Due to traveling and all these built-in frustrations from his past, Kovac stated in an article from Obscure Sound, “This frustration summons a darkness within me, and I am releasing it in this single,” stated Kovac.
The single “Fall Behind” draws its inspiration from rock stars like Led Zeppelin. The single “stirs in its blend of technical, dexterous guitar lines and rhythm sections in addition to an evident modern emo affection, apparent in the dynamic vocal range showing both adeptness in soaring melodics and screaming intensity,” stated Obscure Sound. The single showcases a perfect blend of instrumental perfection with deep and impactful lyrics.
