Get ready to step into a new era because guess who’s back and better than ever? That’s right, it’s Twenty One Pilots! After teasing fans in recent weeks, the duo finally announced their newest album Clancy, with a release date of May 17th via Fueled By Ramen. To give fans a taste of what’s to come, the duo released a new single from the album, “Overcompensate”, along with a stellar music vide to match.
Twenty One Pilots is no stranger when it comes to keeping fans on their toes. Fans recently took to social media sharing that they had received cryptic mailed letters from the Sacred Municipality of Dema. They also strategically placed a single piece of red tape their cover-art on previous albums leaving everyone wondering what the band was up to.
The “Overcompensate” music video plays into the narrative well. It kicks off with a birds eye view of the ocean accompanied by a glitchy electronic sounds and a woman’s voice. As the energetic keyboard rhythms set in, a map overlay appears, panning over the fictional world of Trench. The scene descends into the eerie realm of Dema where viewers are greeted by an ominous voice welcoming them back to Trench.
