With the much-anticipated release of their upcoming album Clancy just around the corner on May 24th, Twenty One Pilots dropped yet another single to tide us over. Luckily for us, the single comes with a matching music video.
Directed by the talented Josh Dun himself, the music video for “Backslide” is a visual feast. Featuring Tyler Joseph cruising through town on his trusty BMX bike in a scene straight out of your favorite feel-good movie. It’s like ‘Groundhog Day” meets a hip-hop dream, and we’re absolutely here for it.
But beyond the slick visuals, it’s the music that really steals the show. “Backslide” is a certified earworm that you won’t be able to get out of your head. And the lyrics? Let’s just say they hit home in all the right ways. With Tyler singing about resilience and overcoming obstacles, there’s certainly a message that we could all use a little more of these days.
Welcome back to ‘Trench’ indeed.
And if “Backslide” is anything to go by, then Clancy is shaping up to be one heck of an album. Twenty One Pilots has already dropped two other tracks from the album “Next Semester” and “Overcompensate,” both of which have been climbing the alternative charts.
But that’s not all that the boys are up to. They are gearing up to hit the road for their biggest tour yet – the Clancy World Tour. What better way to celebrate a new album than with a tour? With stops all over North America, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and the UK, there’s not excuse not to catch them live.

The release of Clancy is getting closer than ever. In the meantime, you can pre-save the album on all streaming platforms.
