Debuting his first-ever love song, Irish-born singer/songwriter Moncrieff showcases his highly-crafted songwriting skills in a simple, heartfelt tune that is impressively poignant, personal, and catchy, immediately making listeners want to sing along. “Warm” is a pure sonic commitment, exploring acceptance and dealing with another person’s faults in a way that feels soothing and warm.

Having performed with Adele and impressed greats like Elton John and Avicii, Moncrieff has a clear gift for songwriting. Growing up in the Irish countryside, he was into classic soul and R&B at 16 and the associated big, massive voiced icons like Otis Redding, Etta James, and Ray Charles. When his sister and, two years later, older brother passes away, Moncrieff turned to music as a way to deal with loss and emotional turmoil, and it became more important as an outlet. He eventually moved to London to really focus on his music and craft.

Owing his moniker to “some banker guy” who offered some encouragement, and some beers, during an early phase of doubt, it didn’t take long until some of the biggest names took notice. He released his debut EP, The Early Hurts, in 2019 followed by his 2020 EP, The Class of 2020. He is now eadying himself, and the world, for the release of his next EP, scheduled for spring 2022.

Written and recorded with a deliberately small team of musician friends, “Warm” is the latest testament to Moncrieff’s incredible songwriting gift and a testament to the sounds of his teen years that propelled him into the world of music. Speaking of the single, which follows his signing to German label Energie Musik, he shares,

Nobody’s perfect. This song is about being that person, and that rare moment in life when you find that person that truly sees you for you, your imperfections, flaws and scars as well as your good traits and loves you for them. It’s a really comforting and happy feeling to just know that all you have to do is be yourself.

Choosing a no-frills production, Moncrieff uses the simplistic atmosphere to cast his sonic safety net through soulful vocals. He invites listeners into this safety net through his affectionate tones, directing his caring reminders of acceptance and love to those who may need to hear it the most. With a choir-like chorus that seems to fill the room, a compassionate glow is cast around the heartfelt lyrics that display just how thoughtful Moncrieff was in crafting his message. He points out the small details that one might consider imperfections and recollects the small moments that one might overlook, but lovingly finds the beauty in these things that make for the human experience. “Warm” is not only a heartfelt love song, but also a story of youth and enjoying the small things we take for granted – rainy nights and sunny days and learning to appreciate sharing moments of our lives together.
