Words are integral to our society. Being social creatures, it has always been the number one choice when relaying messages to others. Apart from this, it’s a tool to navigate the world we live in keeping us properly informed. Communicating with fellow humans and the world, it’s also a key to understanding ourselves. What starts out as internal dialogue, we shift to saying it out loud because it reels in new perspectives. It’s like having your own portable therapist on call 24/7.
This same theme of words playing a huge part in life is in display in Los Angeles rock trio Senses with their song ‘Can’t Find The Words’. Released last September 13th in all major streaming services and part of their debut EP “Take Me Out Of Here”. ‘Can’t Find The Words’ is a track that tackles this feeling of inescapable silence when we’re locked in with our thoughts. In wrestling terms, this a cage match between you and yourself. Now it’s up to you, do you find a way out or do you stay in there and let time pass you by?
Despite this premise of being at a loss for words. Senses gifts us amazing lyrics, sweet vocals and instrumentals that slay even a fire breathing dragon. Thus presenting us a fitting theme song for those who are lost and wandering. Penned by their singer Madison and considered as one of her favorites that she’s written. ‘Can’t Find The Words’ cuts deep because this is a first hand account on her feelings of “So often I get stuck in my head and even though I know how I’m feeling or how I’m acting is not truly what I feel, my mind just won’t let me snap out of it.”. A singer without a song, a speaker without a speech, there’s this sense of dread in the air that we all can hear. Yet amidst all this, Senses manages to burst our bubbles. Pointing out that in moments like this there’s still a light at the end of the tunnel. We are directed to keep on walking even if for right now we still ‘Can’t Find The Words’.
