We are in the middle of a musical revolution, right now. One of the artists leading the charge are currently The Crane Wives. There’s a new wave upon us in the folk and rock and roll world. This band is leading the charge with their energy, poise, and unique sound. Not to mention, the date we were lucky to witness happened to be packed and sold out.
Ace of Spades in Sacramento embraced the last night of the group’s album release tour with open arms. It was truly one of the more special aspects of the evening. They danced, sang, and listened intently to the music; and created a welcoming space for fans new and old alike. The evening’s opener, Rett Madison, expressed such a sentiment shortly before the end of their set:
We’ve never attended a tour with someone who’s had an audience who was so present and kind, as openers.”
~ Rett Madison
To welcome The Crane Wives on the stage, Chappell Roan’s “Hot To Go” played. Not one member in the audience wasn’t dancing, and the band even joined in the fun. Shortly afterward, an explosive performance from the band began…

Grins were plastered to the band members’ faces. They embraced the looseness of improvisation and let the music lead them that night as they ripped their whammy bars and performed rock and roll riffs on their instruments seemingly without breaking a sweat. While the set up of the stage was simple, the band made use of the space to its fullest. It simply felt like a jam session among friends.

The set list of the evening involved:
- Scars
- Arcturus Beaming
- The Garden
- Allies or Enemies

I wish you could’ve seen our journey in 2019 when we were playing in empty rooms… and though we needed that part of our journey, we really appreciate all of you and the opportunity you guys have given us to follow our dreams.”
