Swedish Psychedelic Pop Duo SoSo! Releases New Single “Big Bang”
While this Swedish psychedelic rock duo goes by the name SoSo!, their music is anything but. Incorporating elements of dream-pop and low-fi rock, SoSo! transcends genres and takes you on a ride with their newest release, “Big Bang”. Dropped on April 8th, “Big Bang” is the second single to be released in anticipation of SoSo!’s upcoming EP. While the name of the EP still remains undisclosed, SoSo!’s newest single has given us high hopes for the pop duo’s soon-to-be-released project.
“Big Bang” is best experienced with headphones on, and the volume turned all the way up. To say that the level of craftsmanship in the production of “Big Bang” is impressive is an egregious understatement. The single is eclectic, wistful and trippy -drawing you in and sweeping you up in the first 10 seconds with rapid panning and angelic harmonies. The sounds of bubbling water gradually increasing in volume alongside the harmonizations makes it feel as though you’re swimming upwards -ready to break through the surface. When you do, you are immediately catapulted into a current of energy and vibrant colors. Much like MGMT, SoSo! seamlessly blends a wide range of emotions into a single 3-minute song; “Big Bang” leaves you both reflective and optimistic.
What truly makes the song so undeniably good, however, are the unique vocals. Androgynous and high-energy, SoSo!’s performance perfectly matches the track without overshadowing the intricacies of the production. “Big Bang” does the most important thing a song can do – it makes you feel.
