SUNFLOWER BEAN SHARES THEIR NEWEST SINGLE & MUSIC VIDEO FOR “IN FLIGHT”
Step aside everyone, the New York trio SunFlower Bean is here with their latest single “In Flight” to celebrate the release of their new album Headful of Sugar. The creation on “In Flight” in particular is so raw, personal and relatable. The album itself could be identified as a “psychedelic head-rush” meant to be played out loud. “In Flight” gives a very up in the air escape reality vibe. The lyrics portray as if Nick Kivlen (guitarist and vocalist) doesn’t fit in with the norms of society. As if everyone in the world is closed minded and he is just searching for the one person that connects with him. Aren’t we all searching for the person who makes us feel like everything in this life is worthwhile? In the music video you can see Nick walking in the opposite direction of a crowd, showcasing how he feels like an outsider, viewing life differently than others.
“This song is a romantic vision of meeting a lover, running away together and entering a dangerous new world. It’s less safe but also less suffocating. The video follows me through a series of twilight zone-style mishaps as I search to be seen or understood. Things only improve when I finally find like-minded people. Is it a dream? Is it the multiverse? It’s for the viewer to decide.”

Nick leaving the video and song up for interpretation is pretty deep. The viewer can decide how this song makes them feel. Which, in a way is exactly what the song means, everyone will view this differently; there is no right or wrong way to view it. Everyone has their own mind and opinion and you can find people that will understand that perspective. We all want to be seen in the world and creating that safe space for yourself. Learning who you are is very important. Julia Cumming who is also a vocalist and bassist player in the band has the same outlook as Nick.

A very powerful message indeed. Become one with yourself, learn who you are, go against the norms and don’t let society put you in a box.
