In 2017, Annie Clark, known to fans as St. Vincent, stunned all with her fifth full length release, MASSEDUCTION. Her electric energy and performance cannot be matched in terms of her skillset as an artist, songwriter, and producer.
It’s been four years since we heard much from her in terms of new music, but as of today, she is back with a new message and her signature sound in new single, “Pay Your Way In Pain.”
While her previous album transformed the indie darling into a seductive pop-star-dame, her upcoming album, Daddy’s Home, promises a new edge while combining all her prior influences.
In an interview, St. Vincent mentioned “Pay Your Way In Pain” as “like blues for 2021.” As we live our lives, there is always a struggle involved. Some of these struggles are worth it; and involve rewards beyond imagination. The single makes an attempt to inspire transformation from struggles endured. We all have our responsibilities; it’s time to execute them and take charge in spite of the struggles for the sake of finding the reward.
Out May 14th, St. Vincent’s upcoming album, Daddy’s Home, promises to follow a similar inspirational thread. In an interview, she commented, “there is a literal and autobiographical element to it, but also I’m daddy now! I have sh** to do; I have responsibilities in this world that I’ve created.”
The single, “Pay Your Way in Pain,” is available for listening now on all streaming platforms:
