Last Friday, rock band State Champs paired up with Cardio Sport for a unique online experience with fans. The event was one hour, start-to-finish, starting with a 40-minute workout co-led by Cardio Sport and the band, followed by a virtual post-workout hang-out with fans.
As the first event of its kind, this stream will kick off a series of virtual themed workout events with several alternative-rock bands (under embargo, but including Silverstein, Sleeping With Sirens, Ryan Key, Our Last Night, and more) that will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Since we can’t jump around, mosh, and move like we used to do during live shows, we hoped this would make for a great alternative. Movement is made to come with music, and we are so privileged to be a part of the first event of this kind,” the band stated in their intro. Decked out in sports gear, the band joined the Cardio Sport team virtually for a simple cardio workout from the comfort of their backyards and homes. While blaring the band’s hits, the workout entailed a great activity available and easy to perform for most people, with modifications available for any fitness level.

All while living in different states, State Champs chatted with fans about their upcoming album, fully created in the midst of lockdown. With the challenge and learning curve thrown at them, the guys have been working hard on their new music, passing songs over, and juggling recording and production. “Pop punk is the perfect music for cardio; it’s an uplifting, quick-paced environment made for movement,” the band commented.
While talking with fans, they offered tips in providing a healthy, positive environment. They opened up on their mental health journeys and how they’ve grown during quarantine. The chat was inspirational and empowering to anyone who is struggling with their physical or mental health. Promoting self care in their journeys, they also advised therapy for mental health, getting the rest you need, and drinking lots of water and avoiding alcohol to feel healthier overall.
