NY-based synth-pop artist Souvenir has a song fit for Halloween party playlists. “Your Love Is An Animal” is the second single off his upcoming Human Nature EP. It’s wild and seductive, paying homage to Miami and New York queer nightlife, two places that helped Souvenir discover his own sexuality, identity, and sound.

Souvenir seeks to effortlessly reference the classic sounds he was raised on with his unique brand of synth-pop magic. The 24-year-old also uses his Millenial/Gen Z cusp sensibilities to keep him firmly planted among his contemporaries. The result is an infectious testament to youth, heartbreak, and the modern queer experience, scored by sweeps and hooks for a queen (Carly Rae Jepsen). Souvenir’s heartbeat is synced with that of the east coast, from a small town on Cape Cod, to a music school in Miami, and now is a true New York City boy. With his forthcoming EP, produced by Dominic Florio, Souvenir is forging his own path with the unshakeable optimism of a true double Sag, mining his share of pop euphoria.

“Your Love Is An Animal” blends Miami sound machine-esque brass and percussion with sleek modern future nostalgia/Charlie Puth vocoders and synths. It dives deeper and harder into the 80s-inspired world that Souvenir has begun to create for his own music. Pulsing with hypnotic beats and glistening with silky vocals, the track creates an energy that is sure to get you moving and bopping, fitting well into a party atmosphere. While it’s clear where the production pulls inspiration from 80s synth-pop, there’s a vibrant and fresh sound that grounds the soundscape in modern-day electronic pop realms. Complete with an addictive hook, “Your Love Is An Animal” evokes feelings of lust that will have you feeling like you need to close out the month with a bang.
