Music is and always will be the universal language of love. While it is important to stand in solidarity with all of our brothers and sisters, let us remember that love is always the answer. If you are protesting peacefully and safely and need some powerful songs to guide you through the march for justice, we’d like to provide a playlist for you. Included are artists ranging from Prince, Bob Marley and Sam Cooke to Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce and Childish Gambino, touching on topics of racial discrimination, police brutality, love and peaceful protest.

Additionally, if you are seeking to educate and familiarize yourself with black culture, we have put together a comprehensive list of music, literature and television to check out, as well as other ways to donate to and support the Black Lives Matter movement.

The playlist image is a painting done by Mary Kesinger (@itsmaryk), who is taking commission donations for Healthy Hood Chicago, a small fitness and dance studio in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago which provides quality and affordable dance and fitness classes to the underserved in the community.

Last but not least, Happy Pride Month <3 Love is Love!
