Ride Through “Dallas Fashion Week” With Tracy Lamont’s New Track

On January 20th, Virginia’s own Tracy Lamont released “Dallas Fashion Week,” a dance-influenced track with lyrics about driving around, having a good time, and maybe getting a little high with someone you want to be close with. The hook is infectious, the flows are catchy, and the beat is reminiscent of a bit more laid-back Leven Kali. This earworm will get you moving in your seat or dancing around your space.

Tracy Lamont is “an artist creating eclectic music for the masses, never confining himself to one lane or sound.” He was “introduced to music at an early age … from the jump, Tracy’s parents would play an eclectic mix of music, from Missy Elliott and Jay-Z to Kirk Franklin and Kelly Clarkson.” This eclecticism provides an explanation for how Lamont can combine two genres so smoothly, giving a chill dance track the energy of a Topaz Jones song.

This brings me to the most crucial point: these two artists should collaborate if they haven’t yet. I may be a simple journalist, but I can tell that Lamont’s beats and flows would match up very well with Jones’ beats and flows. If these two joined forces, they might become an unstoppable juggernaut. The first thing I noted when listening to “Dallas Fashion Week” was how it gave off a Topaz Jones/Leven Kali vibe, and I stand by that thought.

Tracy Lamont has released two singles since dropping “Dallas Fashion Week,” and we’re excited to see what he’s ramping up for! The beats and flows are different on all three of these songs, but if there’s an album or an EP on the horizon, it’ll be cool to see how these tracks play off each other. Be sure to check out “Dallas Fashion Week” below, and let us know what you think!

Obsessed with all things music. Finished that MFA, so now I’m apparently a master of this. Bouncing around state borders, going wherever. If you see me at a show, say hey!
