Remi Wolf Embarks in the Christmas Spirit with “Last Christmas” and “Winter Wonderland”

Christmas is just around the corner, and you know what that means- Christmas music all around us. The month of December sees songs such as Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song” being played all the time. Remi Wolf indulges in this holiday spirit as well with her two new releases “Last Christmas” and “Winter Wonderland”.

Both the songs are covers of well-known Christmas songs, with the former being a song originally done by Wham and the latter being written by Felix Bernard and lyricist Richard Bernhard Smith. Remi Wolf’s “Last Christmas” is a little lower in tempo to Wham’s and loses the original’s trademark 80s synths. Instead, it is more conversational in tone, and it really feels like Remi Wolf is talking to us personally about her heartbreak. Winter Wonderland is a song that has been covered by many famous artists including Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day and Dean Martin. Remi Wolf’s version sees her introduce electronic instrumentation with a catchy drum beat to the classic. We hear her engaging vocals as she asks us to imagine making snowmen and cuddling next to a warm fire on a winter night.

Remi Wolf is an American singer songwriter hailing from California. Remi Wolf’s music sees her combine pop with a blend of DIY sensibilities as well as dance and funk.  She has named SZA and John Mayer among the artists that influence her. Remi Wolf appeared as a contestant on American Idol, before pursuing a degree at USC Thornton School of Music. After her graduation in 2018, she released a handful of EPs and singles before putting out her debut studio album, Juno, in 2021.
