REGALJASON Releases Empowering New Single “Ascend”
There are times in life when it seems as though it is impossible to accomplish one’s goals and dreams, especially when just starting out on a new project. This is primarily a struggle in the creative sphere, as artists can get caught up in the numbers and data on social media when trying to grow a following or share new content. REGALJASON’s latest alt-pop single, “Ascend,” tackles the negative thoughts around this issue with its empowering lyrics and catchy hooks.
His latest track combines many elements REGALJASON incorporates in his previous work, such as magnetic pop melodies, powerful lyrics, and alternative electronic soundscapes. In “Ascend,” specifically, REGALJASON blends Afro-Latino percussion with explosive rock guitars while maintaining the structure and chord progressions of a pop anthem.

REGALJASON explains more about the meaning behind “Ascend,”
“As an independent artist I face many obstacles in my journey to let my voice be heard. When releasing my debut EP Megafauna, besides writing, producing, directing, and more, I also had to monitor the data, a task I found to be in opposition to my artistic process. Constantly checking figures such as likes, streams, and views, among other things, took a toll on my creativity. I also found it hard to find my footing in the digital arena especially with my sound being heralded as genre-less and inventive. ASCEND is my response to the emotions I felt during this time. I had to make a choice to own my individuality and promise myself that I will continue the climb regardless of the “figures” that might tell me otherwise.”
From being born in Jamaica to being raised in Panama and now living in London, REGALJASON started writing songs at a young age due to his fascination with the many cultures he grew up in. He earned his bachelor’s degree at nineteen, then moved to Los Angeles for a year, where he released his first single, “Buzzed Love.” After moving to London, he continued writing songs and performing. Then in 2022, the artist dropped his EP MEGAFAUNA.
