Prepare For Takeoff With Sigrid’s New Single, It Gets Dark.
Endelig! Finally there is new music from Norwegian sensation, Sigrid. Released ahead of her anticipated May 6th album, How To Let Go, new single “It Gets Dark” sets the tone as Sigrid embarks on a new era of music. In the artist’s own words, “this was the first song written for the new album.” She goes on to explain that “It Gets Dark” has been a sort of “guiding star for the entire project” with everything leading back to this particular song.
With its big orchestral opening, pop/rock meets space feel, and relatable lyrics, it’s no wonder why this single holds a special place in the NME Award winner’s heart. And when you listen to it, you’ll think that it’s out of this world too. Ignoring that horrible space pun, Sigrid shines in this track with her ability to control such a vocally demanding arrangement. In fact, the vocals that you hear in “It Gets Dark” are live and were cut on the same day that the song was finished being written. If you listen very closely at about 49 seconds, you can hear Sigrid ask for “one more” take.
The music video for “It Gets Dark” has no shortage of hidden gems. Equipped with UFOs, planetary exploration, and interstellar travel, this music video is the perfect visual representation of the struggle to find yourself. It’s true that sometimes “you need some darkness” in order to see the stars.
“It Gets Dark” is now streaming on all platforms. Make sure to also check out Sigrid’s NME Award winning collaboration with Griff, “Head On Fire” while you’re there. For more news and reviews of your favorite artists make sure to stay tuned with Glasse Factory!
