Rising UK artist Paris Paloma just sent waves through the music scene, releasing her newest single “the warmth” in anticipation of her debut album Cacophony.

Following a wrapped up and sold-out headline tour in the US, Paloma made her debut at the Glastonbury Festival, supported the legendary Stevie Nicks for her BST Hyde Park performance in London and even performed her arguably most powerful and well-known single yet, “labour,” for the BBC. “the warmth” is the final single she dropped in the lead-up to her debut album Cacophony, which is eagerly anticipated for an August 30th release date.

Alongside “the warmth,” Paloma released an ethereal and cinematic music video. She adds a magical visual component to what is already an otherworldly experience.

The moon in the background and treading the waters in a white dress, Paloma dances alongside a group of dancers in an angelic choreography. Playing with the light and its reflections in the water, the atmosphere creates a strong emotional arc, making the experience one of a kind.

The song itself neatly ties in with many other breathtaking songs by Paris Paloma, as it deals with catharsis and healing from past traumas. She acknowledges that while the traumas of the past might still haunt her and they may never fully go away, they can’t hurt her anymore. With her divine voice, she guides us through a scenery that jumps between the past,

“I used to think that I
Was running from the night
But I’ve been following behind
The light, all this time”

~ “the warmth”

and all the struggles she went through, and the present,

“Moving slowly, tracking laughter through the trees
The sound of the safety that’s evaded me
The calling of the birds, the warmth rеturns
To my extremities, long dеad from freezer burn”

~ “the warmth”

where she overcomes her demons, letting the warmth return to heal her.

The finale of the music video with its erupting flames is topically highly reminiscent of the African proverb,

“The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth”

This is only emphasized by the song describing Paloma as a child trying to reach for the light. She describes the struggles of balancing the darkness and the light and realizing that sometimes old wounds won’t ever really heal. Sometimes we have to learn to live with them and let the warmth return to us.

This powerful sentiment leaves us in utter excitement for the release of Paloma’s debut album Cacophony, out on August 30th. Presave the album here.

Don’t miss out on Paris Paloma’s Europe tour in the coming fall.
