Outside Lands Releases 2023 Lineup
The best music festival in the United States released their lineup on March 7th! I am, of course, talking about San Francisco’s Outside Lands. Celebrating fifteen years in Golden Gate Park, Outside Lands is “still the largest, independently owned festival in the US.” Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly, and Starr Hill Presents have maintained and thrived with Outside Lands, and 2023 is going to be no different.
Though the festival celebrates “world-class music, food, wine, beer, art and cannabis,” the primary focus of this piece is the lineup that the team has put together to celebrate fifteen years in Golden Gate Park. Featuring headlining performances from Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters, and ODESZA, “the first EDM act to headline the Lands End main stage,” the lineup runs deeper than it appears at first glance. Yes, the top line has Lana Del Rey, The 1975, Megan Thee Stallion, Zedd, Janelle Monáe, Maggie Rogers, and Fisher, but this undercard packs a punch.
Outside Lands has always been a place for music discovery, and there are several names on the 2023 lineup who might not be massive at the moment, but they’re mere moments away from their moment. On the last four lines alone, there’s Nation of Language, EVAN GIIA, MANILA GREY, No Vacation, Grace Ives, Wednesday, and Venus & the Flytraps. There’s so much to discover on just the last four lines, but that would be discounting everything before.
This lineup has J.I.D. This lineup has Noah Kahan. This lineup has Interpol, Willow, Orville Peck, aespa, L’Impératrice, Alvvays, Alex G, Raveena, Inhaler, Crumb, Ethel Cain. I’m not trying to name pretty much everybody, but the poster boasts some insanely good live performers, and I don’t want your eyes to possibly miss some of these highlights.
