The Mission
Outside Lands, San Francisco’s famous three-day music, art, cannabis, food and wine festival, illuminates the importance of voting in the fall 2024 presidential election.
Held annually in Golden Gate Park, this event brings a unique perspective on the “festival experience” by using its renowned platforms to advocate for substantial change. Since 2008, Outside Lands has implemented The Mission, a reserved space in the park dedicated to helping festival-goers become more involved in non-profit organizations. The chosen institutions typically revolve around a shared cause.
This year, The Mission encourages patrons to step into the ballot box and vote in the upcoming presidential election. With a heavy emphasis on voter registration, awareness and participation, The Mission recognizes the power of democracy.
We want our community members to recognize their individual and collective power, to see that participation in the democratic process is an essential way to engage with the causes they care about. We believe that fans should advocate for their personal values and passions – be they education, the arts, local business, agriculture; or any of the causes championed by our community – at the national and local levels, in their everyday lives and moments of collective importance. – The Mission

Outside Lands Works
The Mission is presented each year by Outside Lands Works, a program focused on preserving the cultural individuality of Bay Area residents and the surrounding California communities. There have been partnerships with over 20 local organizations, all contributing to more than $1 million in funds. These donations have been used to support local nonprofit music and arts education programs for underprivileged communities.
