“Out The Low” By JVS Will Quite Literally Take You “Out The Low”

On November 18th, Gospel Drill artist JVS put out the track “Out The Low” with Hustie and R-Scar. On the surface, Gospel and Drill don’t seem like they would go together. However, JVS, Hustle, and R-Scar have combined these two worlds quite expertly.

The beat is pretty standard Drill, but that doesn’t make it bad. It actually serves as a good foundation for the message of the song. Because JVS wants to get his message of thanks across to more people than a traditional Gospel song would reach, the use of a standard Drill beat makes the message of the lyrics come through more.

Furthermore, the message doesn’t feel preachy. This very much so feels like the artists expressing their faith and hoping that their message gets across rather than expecting everyone who listens to it to agree with them. That difference in perceived intent makes all the difference. “Out The Low” has an uplifting message about the importance of religion in these artists’ lives, but it never feels like they expect their audience to feel exactly the same. As they have said about the purpose of the song, they want “the young people today who have been going through tough times to see the light in things and to keep on pushing.”

On the whole, “Out The Low” is a solid track about finding salvation through religion without making anyone who might not feel the same ostracized. The beat slaps, the lyrics are uplifting, and JVS, Hustie, and R-Scar should be proud of what they’ve put out. Check it out below!

Obsessed with all things music. Finished that MFA, so now I’m apparently a master of this. Bouncing around state borders, going wherever. If you see me at a show, say hey!
