Offdaze Releases Experimental Single “Rise Again”

As we enter spring, the revitalized energy of leaving behind the cold winter months blankets the world. This newfound and upbeat energy is reflected in Offdaze’s latest single, “Rise Again.” Fans of indie folk and indietronica will love the seamless blend of raw vocals and acoustic guitar with electronic elements to create a song with a unique sound and feel.

Listen to “Rise Again” below:

“Rise Again” has an interesting instrumental that switches from its opening of an acoustic guitar and harmonica accompanied by vocals to a more electronic sound. Although it sounds like a major dynamic change that could be pretty jarring, the switch-up is done in a subtle, effortless progression that flows naturally in the track. This experimental sound significantly contributes to the energetic feel of “Rise Again.”

Offdaze discuss the unique sound of “Rise Again” as,

“… [A] song [that] may go against certain genre rules, but that was part of the point. You may not like the song, but we doubt you’ve heard something exactly like it.”

Even with these electronic elements in the track, “Rise Again” still encompasses the passionate lyrics of indie folk. The lyrics are a hopeful reminder that things can and will get better, even when it seems as though “I spend my days stuck in a haze.” The chorus further emphasizes this message of hope, And I know/ And I See/ The stars will rise again/ And I hope/ And I dream/ The Stars will shine again.” Although the track ends with a less optimistic outlook, “Now I know, now I feel/ The walls are closing in/ And I’m lost,” the song’s last two lines still offer hope, “So I kneel/ The stars will shine again.”

Overall, anyone looking for an upbeat track with an optimistic message and fun instrumental this spring must add Offdaze’s “Rise Again” to their playlist.

Based in San Diego, Offdaze is a songwriting/production duo of musicians Preston Dill and Andrew Krause. The pair have worked together for almost a decade writing music for other artists, but they have just begun their journey as Offdaze. Their first single, “I’m Alright,” came out in 2022, with “Rise Again” being their second single released as Offdaze.
